Our charitable mission is to improve the health of the people in our communities every day, with quality and compassion.
Baystate Health supports our local communities in many ways. Our commitment to caring for uninsured and underinsured people means we often absorb the cost of that care. In 2014, Baystate Health provided unreimbursed care to our patients at a cost of more than $112 million.
We sponsor community events that raise funds and awareness as well as foster safer and healthier neighborhoods. Our team members came together to rally around local children and families in 2014. Team members donated more than 2,500 new toys for “In the Spirit of Giving” Community Toy Drive, adopted over 140 local classrooms by donating bins filled with essential supplies, and distributed over 2,100 backpacks filled with school supplies.
Through workplace fundraisers, team members donated $484,019 to support local United Way organizations.
We are committed to the communities we serve. See the Highlights section for more ways in which Baystate Health lived our charitable mission in 2014.
